He has experience teaching in academic schools and associat ions. Derek has a strong background in development and delivery of events utilizing, creativity, flexibility and communication skills. He possesses strong leadership qualities and is capable of meeting and exceeding company goals and objectives.

EXPERIENCE

In the area of Martial Arts (Wushu)
Derek Seong is a certified coach of Singapore International Wushu Federation. He started Wushu at the age of 8. He first began training in a Community Centre by a local coach. With great emphasis on the basics and technique training ever since, he has built up a strong foundation in Wushu. His passion and talent for Wushu brought him to great heights. At the tender age of 17, he was picked by Mdm Yan Choong Lian, Artistic Director of Dance Ensemble Singapore to undergo special training in the troupe.
Derek then began to evolve a different style, from traditional Wushu to the new international routine syllabus after joining the family of Dance Ensemble Singapore. He was able to excel in many aspects of Wushu, achieving high commendations and awards for his talent and commitment. He has competed with athletes from the national team in the Singapore International Wushu competition, securing several titles to his belt. Sharing the same status with the athletes has always been a source of inspiration to him all these years.
Derek has been an instructor since 2001. He trains and grooms his group of students in various areas of Wushu routine.
His choreography in the Wushu team is well known to many other Wushu associations. It is expected that his team would emerge top three every year. He is well respected by his students and has great support from their parents. He has close bonding with his students and firmly believes in bringing out the maximum potential in each and every one of them.


In the area of Dance and Performing Arts
In the aspect of dance, he first started dance as a CCA from Primary 5 to Secondary 4, mainly in Chinese contemporary dance. With his leadership quality, he was appointed as the chairman of the group. He has been given various opportunities to develop his potential in dance since then.
In 2003, Derek joined Nanyang Polytechnic Dance Company, and underwent Modern dance training under Miss Gillan Tan. She is also a Dance Lecturer of Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts.
In 2007, Derek started Jazz under the professional guidance of Mr Derrick Ee, in Dance Arts. He then developed further on his own after starting his own studio.
In June 2008, he took his ATOD(I)Gold Bar Exam and obtained Honours plus.
In December 2008, Derek presents his first Dance and Martial Arts Production in Lee Foundation Theatre. The response is so good with 70% seats sold for the 1st show and 90% seats sold for the 2nd show. The production was a great success.
In June 2009, he obtain a Honours Distinction for ATOD(I) for Hip Hop level 8.
Dancing is not only a hobby to Derek. Possessing the advantage of Martial arts trained background; Derek is able to create his own style of dance. ie, fusion martial arts and dance together bringing a new life to Arts. 

In the area of Media, Events and Production

  • Involve in managing the show segment of National Day Parade 2004-2007 with People’s Association and many organization. Job was to ensure the calling of cue from the cue master, to ensure that artistes or performance are in place.
  • Male Lead in Nanyang Poly Short Film “13am” in July 2004
  • In August 2007, Derek and his students were selected to play a minor role in the Movie “Dance Of The Dragon” by the companies doing this production are Easternlight Film and Arclight International in association with Lion City Entertainment (Max Mannix is the director and the writer for this Movie, starring Jason Scott Lee from L.A, Jang Hyuk from Korea and Fann Wong from Singapore.)
  • In August 2007, trainer of one of the Star’s search contestant “F7” Xu Ya Hui in Catwalk and Talent performance of the red scarf. Xu Ya Hui got through to the finals with “Most Appearance” Award
  • In October 2007, Director, Producer as well as the scriptwriter for “Very Actor Class” graduation ceremony performing show by Jteam Production and Ocean Butterfly Music School
  • Floor Manager of local production “Proverb kaleidoscope 2” in Mediacorp studio 1. Hosting Guo Liang

Veron  - Jazz & Ballet

 

Artistic Manager & Chief Instructor 

 

Veron at a tender age of 4 has been training under the guidance of Ms Rosalind Ong in ballet. Veron has completed her Grade 8 and Advanced 1 ballet exams under the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus, and completed her Gold Bar Jazz exams under the Australian Teachers of Dance syllabus. She has attained her RAD Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies, and is a affiliate Member of ATOD(I); she is fully qualified to send students in for exams.

 

Dancing has brought her to great heights. Veron’s performance experience includes:

At 14 years of age, Veron has stepped onto another level in the dance field, teaching. Veron started her teaching career 7 years ago, assisting Ms Ong in the initial stages and moved on to teach independently. Her classes range from RAD Pre-Primary to Advance 1 for ballet, and ATOD Test1 to Gold bar for Jazz. She teaches non-syllabus open classes as well.

 

 

Fen - Hip Hop

 

Fen has been very active in dance choreography & performer ever since 2005 after he graduated from NUS. He strives to widespread and inculcates Hip-hop and Modern knowledge to the public and masses in Singapore , and to impart his knowledge and skills to his students. Over the years, he has conducted dance in many events and competitions to help nurture the younger generation improve and reach higher standards. He抯 a very talent performer and work with many other dance club and studio such as, Jitterbugs Singapore, Theatre Arts Troupe & various groups like NUS Chinese Dance, Dance Ensemble & Dance Blast.

Adam - Retro Funky Groove & Bollywood Jam

Adam started building the passion to dance at the age of 14. He was trained in Jazz, Chinese dance and contemporary dance then. He started being a performer at the young age of 16. Through the training and rehearsals, Adam has gained much

experience in performing arts and gain knowledge in a wide variety of dances. That includes Hip Hop, Malay classical and contemporary, Creative Movement & many others.

 

He was posted to the Singapore Police Force Band during his national service when he was appointed as the in-house choreographer and trainer. Training and performing with police officers became his job. He was also sent to train cheerleaders in the Ministry of Home Affairs for local football club, Home United. It was both a fun and challenging task to train officers from the various departments (CISCO,PRISONS, ICA , etc.)

As part of the Singapore Police Force Band, Adam has traveled to Japan and Germany and found his choreography well-received by the international audience. He's one of the lead in a Dance & Martial Arts production, "Dancescape" 2008.

2003: Choreographed for St Margaret's Secondary School for a performance in Brunei , invited by the Sultan of Brunei.

 

2005 : Choreographed & Performed an ethnic Fusion dance showcase in Bremen , Germany , together with the Singapore .

 

2005 : Choreographed & Performed a variety of dances in various parts of  Japan together with the Singapore Police Force & The Woman - Police Pipes And Drums. A chance to be part of the World Expo 2005 event in Nagoya .

 

2006 : Performed at the Wedding of Malaysian Artiste ?Siti Nurhaliza & Datok K at KL Convention Centre with Artiste Seni Budaya.

Xiaoyun - Chinese Contemporary

Xiaoyun has been practicing Chinese Dance for 8 years. Strict and Regimental when it comes to teaching. She's an active dancer in Singapore Foochow Association Chinese dance troupe, NUS Chinese dance troupe and Threate Arts Troupe and double up her role as a Assistant Choreographer in Singapore Foochow Association Chinese dance troupe. Recently obtain Highly Commended award for Jazz Gold Bar - ATODI

Liang Bin - Tan Zi Gong

Liang Bin started practicing Tan Zi Gong in Practice Performing Arts School since 1990. Appointed assistant instructor in 1996 and eventually given his own class of students in 2006, with experience teaching kids as young as 4 years old.

Active in performing arts since his PPAS years, Liang Bin participated numerous major performances with the school. He later joined People's Association Modern Dance Group in 2003 and performed in Chingay Parade (2004 -08), National Day parade, Soundwaves, as well as Singapore Festival in Shanghai 2007. He also performed with the Theatre Arts Troupe in 2005 and 2007  

 

 

Kenny - Martial Arts

Kenny was a former athlete in National Wushu Competition at the year 2001. He start his wushu training at the age of 8 and later joined Dance Ensemble Singapore performance group. In year 2002 and 2004, Kenny obtains silver in Team and Fist Routine. He's active in both Dance and Martial Arts. Throughout the years, Kenny gained a lot of experience as a coach and choreographer in Dance Ensemble and Foochow Association Wushu team. He's strict and never compromises standards of Training.
