Jazz ( ATODI & Open Classes)

Jazz has become one of the most popular dance styles in recent years, mainly due to its popularity on television shows, movies, music videos and commercials. People enjoy watching jazz dancers, as the dancing is fun and energetic.

Open Class for Jazz -

Open Class - Jazz dancing is a form of dance that showcases a dancer's individual style and originality. Every jazz dancer interprets and executes moves and steps in their own way. Jazz dancing is energetic and fun, consisting of unique moves, fancy footwork, big leaps and quick turns.

Classes begin with a thorough warm-up, intended to warm up the muscles to prevent injuries. Teachers lead the class in a series of stretching exercises and isolation movements. Isolation movements are important parts of jazz dancing that teach dancers how to move certain parts of their bodies while holding the rest of their body still. The rest of the class is usually devoted to learning a series of moves and combinations to be performed as a routine.

Ballet (RAD & Open Class)

Ballet is a highly technical form of dance which has been influential globally and is taught around the world, using their own culture and society to modernize the art. It is best known in the form of classical ballet, notable for its techniques, such as pointe work, turn-out of the legs; it's graceful, flowing, precise movements; and its ethereal qualities.

At Rhythm ‘N’ Moves, we offer Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) examinations in classical ballet suitable for everyone from young children starting out in dance classes to students aspiring to become professional dancers. The syllabus has been designed for both male and female candidates at all levels.

We stress the importance of every student having an achievable goal. This is measured either by an Examination for students studying the Graded or Vocational Graded syllabus.

The Graded syllabus consists of three different components:

·         Classical

·         Free Movement

·         Character

Classical
The Classical work is the foundation and the most important part of the Graded Syllabi.

Free movement
The free movement section incorporates movements in common with other dance styles such as natural movement, contemporary based dance and Greek dance.

Character dance
Character dance is the theatrical presentation of national dance using original ethnic dance and music, which has been freely adapted for the theatre. There are three styles - Hungarian, Russian and Polish - and these were selected because of their historic importance in the development of the traditional full-length classical ballets.

The Vocational Graded syllabus is the continuation of classical ballet from the Academy’s Graded Syllabus where pointe work for females is introduced for the first time.

This syllabus has been designed to give the necessary training to students wishing to study seriously with a possible view to following a career in dance or dance related subjects.

Students who want to study for the Vocational Graded syllabus should have the type of body that can respond to demanding study. Students must also be able to concentrate for long periods of time and be able to accept and welcome constructive comments and correction.

Adult open ballet classes offer a fun way to tone and tighten your body while learning the fundamental techniques of ballet. If you have never danced before, a beginner’s class would be perfect for you. Beginner classes start off at the very first steps of ballet, so there is no reason to be intimidated. If you are a former dancer and want to return to ballet after several years, you will be placed in a class depending on your fitness and skill level. Taking up an adult ballet class is good for your body as well as your mind. Besides promoting cardiovascular fitness and good posture, ballet is very enjoyable by people of all ages.

Chinese Dance with Props

Try our new era of Chinese dance in Rhythm ‘N’ Moves using modern Chinese dance steps and routine with Chinese props. Why we are different from the rest is because we break away from tradition, mixing modern dance with Chinese dance and martial arts. We like to introduce Chinese dance into the new age and revolution of dance style desire. From the gentle beauty of Chinese Fan dance to the strong display of sword dance and a mixture of both will be the red ribbon.

A good example of such fusion was what we had seen on Star’s Search 2007 by one of the Finalist Miss Xu Ya Hui when she did the red ribbon (choreograph by our instructor) as her talent show cast.
